Missed Doses

What happens if my loved one misses a dose or forgets to take their Alzheimer’s disease medication?

As soon as you remember, your loved one should take their medication at their next scheduled dose.pill and cup

If it has been several days or longer (for example, if you forget to take it while on vacation), it is best to contact your doctor or pharmacist. Your doctor may choose to re-start your loved one on a lower dosage strength of their regular Alzheimer’s medication to allow time for them to tolerate the medication again.

It is best to avoid missing doses of the medication for long, extended periods of time as much as possible, since Alzheimer’s disease worsens over time, and the benefits may not be regained.
