Irreversible Dementias

Some of the irreversible dementias we see are degenerative dementias like Alzheimer's disease, Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Pick's disease, which is similar to Alzheimer's. We also care for residents who have had a series of small strokes resulting in what we call multi-infarct (or vascular) dementia. This type of dementia tends to progress in steps, with cognitive function getting worse after each new stroke.
