JCAHO is a major, independent organization that has accredited hospitals for many years. More recently, JCAHO has developed standards for the accreditation of long-term care facilities. Accreditation from JCAHO is completely voluntary and has no bearing on state or federal licensing requirements. It is an additional measure of assurance of excellence in the care your loved one receives.
