You are here because someone you care about lives in a long-term care facility. This is now their home. So, when we talk about quality, the first thing we have to think about are the qualities of a home environment. I don't mean the style of furniture or the color of the walls. The qualities of home I'm referring to are the qualities you bring to it.
If you were able to care for your loved one at home, those qualities would be found in the things you would do for them. You would pay careful attention to their condition and note any changes. You would coordinate all their medical and dental care, keep track of all their medications, and make sure everyone involved in treatment was aware of what they were taking. You would provide all their personal care, such as grooming and meals. You would talk to them make sure they were comfortable. And, of course, you would provide clean, pleasant surroundings.
