Comforting Care

In its early stages, a disease may be treated very aggressively with the goal being a cure or at least a remission. However, there may come a time when a cure or remission is not possible and additional treatment of the disease just makes the resident feel worse. That's when we give palliative care. The goal of palliative care is to make the resident comfortable, and it's a goal we can usually achieve. Pain management is a big part of palliative care, and we call upon the many resources at our disposal to provide our residents with the respect and relief they need and deserve during this difficult period.
