GROWTH HORMONE AND GROWTH FACTORS
Growth hormone, and growth factors, including insulin-like growth factors I and II and transforming growth factor beta, all have the potential to stimulate bone formation: however, human data with these compounds is currently limited and it is unclear which if any of these agents will prove useful in the management of osteoporosis. Their efficacy should be evaluated with placebo-controlled, double-blind studies. Moreover, growth hormones have been associated with high incidence of side effects. 6
